Champian Fulton was named pianist and vocalist of 2019 by the Hot House Magazine jazz readers poll. Mark Striker of the Detroit Free Press sites “Champian Fulton is the most gifted pure jazz singer of her generation.” The New York Times calls her “a charming young steward of the mainstream jazz tradition.” Born in Oklahoma, Champian is considered one of the most gifted pure musicians of her generation. Her first professional engagement was Clark Terry’s 75th birthday with her own band when she was only 10 years old. A mainstay on the vibrant New York jazz scene, Champian performs with musical royalty such as Lou Donaldson, Frank Wess, Scott Hamilton, Buster Williams and Louis Hayes. From New York to Barcelona, Champian’s swinging style and charismatic performance has made her a guardian of the legacy of jazz. She has released 13 recordings on her own and was selected as Rising Star by the DownBeat magazine Critic’s Poll. Her galvanizing presence and her alluring musical presentation have made her one of the most in-demand jazz artists of today.
